Subic Freeport to be Turned Over to Olongapo City

The Bugle has learned from reliable sources in the national government that due to SBMA's poor performance and lagging prospects as a freeport, it will be disbanded and turned over to Olongapo City, which will incorporate it as part of the city. This has been confirmed by top Subic and Olongapo officials.

Olongapo City police will now enforce traffic rules and tricycles and jeepneys will now ply their routes inside the freeport. Vendors will be allowed to set up shop on freeport sidewalks and banca boats will be encouraged to operate in the area in front of the Boardwalk.

The Bugle has only one reaction to this news...

  1. Perhaps we could have a new example of Bugle humor. The April Fools quip about Subic Freeport being turned over to Olongapo City is a bit worn out.

  2. Re: Barretto parking. I've always found it a bit irritating that owners feel entitled to control the public space in front of their establishments on National Highway. However I and most other drivers ignore these unenforceable signs with just an occasional argument.

  3. Bugle, I notice you cut off part of my Nightclub Dancer response at ten lines. Without it the last sentence made no sense. Please advise if there is a ten sentence limit on reader replies.

  6. Re: Obamacare & US Expats. Let's see, Obamacare is screwing the stateside folks, and Tricare is denying promised benefits to the retired military and their dependents in the Philippines. Philhealth is starting to look like a pretty good option for the expat crowd.

  7. RE; Famous Filipinos. The comments do nothing to make the country's educational systems look more substantial. There will always be those few who are bright enough to reach the heights of international recognition despite beginnings in a poor educational environment. The contributor mentioned three, and I was able to Google 40 more........Out of a population of 96.71 million in 2012. Hello!
