What is the contribution of the Philippines to Philippine defense?

Comment from a reader on: Enough US involvement in the Philippines: So let me get this straight... you want USA money, and USA armed forces to protect you against China, Isis and other threats, but you don't want to allow those troops to operate from your shores? You expect USA to just handle your national defense issues without any Philippine involvement such as pay back, thanks, or even a place to store food and weapons and conduct R & R for the troops that are putting their lives on the line for you? I think not.
