Malls Save Us Money

Comment from a reader on the post: "Do We Live in a Community or a Mall?":

Then again, before malls people routinely paid too much for items because there was no competition. Local merchants often soaked people for items, just because people did not have the option of buying in a larger market. While no one likes the aesthetics of malls, most of them save people money. It is somewhat cavalier to say what people need and don't need. You said it best: let them vote with their wallets or handbags. I may not like them, but people here seem to like those air conditioned nightmares full of crap you don't need.

Cool it on the profanity. Like Sinatra said, "You don't need to work blue. You'll never play the big houses with that crap."
