Should it be legal to run over motorcyclists?

Anyone who has driven a car in the Philippines has had the same frightening experience many times. Just as you start to change lane, a motorcycle zips into your path. Or one whizzes past you, inches from the side of your vehicle. Or a swerving motorcycle takes two lanes, or several motorcycles ride down the center lane, blocking two lanes of traffic. You slam on the breaks or hit them.

Generally, motorcyclists in the Philippines have no regard for their lives. We should agree with them on that. We should be allowed to drive on without stopping if we hit a motorcycle, or maybe just stop and collect from them the money they owe for the damage they have done to our paint job and the drive on.

And also, take off the helmets! If you’re going to drive a motorcycle like a swerving idiot, there’s no reason to protect your empty head.

Have you nearly hit a swerving, undisciplined motorcycle driver recently?
