What Would Jesus Do?

Wal-Mart, Shoe Mart, Ayala. All these economic beehmouths destroy communities and the people who live there. In a recent article, "Always Low Wages," Brian Bolton declares that Jesus would not shop at Wal-Mart, since the company's employee pay scale is not up to Sojourners' standards. Furthermore, he all but declares it a "sin" for Christians to patronize the store because it imports cheap goods made by people who make even less money than Wal-Mart employees. As Bolton writes, "lower prices equal lower wages."

Should Christians shop at malls that exploit people?

  1. Not sure exactly how lower prices would equate to lower wages. Especially if the lower prices resulted in an increase in volume. Which in turn would drive up profits. But them again the Bugle isn't an economist.
